Did you know that the UK imports 90% of all cut flowers?
Flowers are grown and treated so that they will travel many air miles. As a result, they have become restricted to a straight and rigid monotony. But when ‘traditional’ flowers are placed in a vase, each with subtle changes of shade, twisting, nodding, and with gorgeous scent, my heart bursts with joy.
I am ‘The Flower Bothy’. I belong to the Flowers From the Farm network: a national co-operative that aims to bring local blooms back to every vase in the country. I have my own cutting garden, which inspires me to grow flowers in a way that is sustainable, in tune with the natural season. More than anything I am inspired to arrange beautiful flowers, beautifully.
Join ‘The Flower Bothy’, and Harmony and Priorwood Gardens, to see if we can grow EARLY Sweet Peas for British Flowers Week.
