What's the competition?
We're calling for submissions from floral designers for six innovative floral designs to be installed in the nave of the Garden Museum from 18-24 June. The installations will be on display to the public throughout British Flowers Week, giving you a chance to get your design in front of a huge audience.
We'll shortlist six installations to go on display to the public, and a panel of judges will decide one final winner during British Flowers Week. The winner will receive a prize, and everyone shortlisted will be invited to a special gala event to celebrate British Flowers Week.
New Covent Garden Market will give the six shortlisted entrants £300 each towards the cost of flowers, plants and foliage from the market to create their design.
Your design brief
Create an installation to fit within a volume of 1.5m wide x 2m long x 3m high, and to be viewed within a larger space (picture below).
The design should be an artistic response to the location, showcasing the unique seasonal quality of British flowers, plants and foliage.
Fresh cut material must predominate and the design must use exclusively British-grown flowers and/or foliage and/or plants.
No floral foam should be used anywhere in your design.

How to enter
You’ll need to submit a description and artwork of your design using the form below.
Your description should include:
- your inspiration for the design
- your proposed colour palette
- flowers and foliage you plan to use and your suppliers
- the mechanics of the design
Your artwork can be submitted digitally as a sketch, artist’s impression, mood board or a computer-generated drawing.
You’ll also need to demonstrate an existing commitment to using British flowers. We'll check your website and confirm your contacts with British flower growers and/or wholesalers to find out how you make the best of British flowers and foliage.

Terms and conditions
The British Flowers Week competition opens on 11/04/18 and closes at 23:59 on 09/05/18. Entries will not be accepted after this time.
Six entrants will be shortlisted, and invited to create their designs at the Garden Museum. From these six designs, one winner will be chosen.
The six shortlisted designs need to be in situ between 18 and 24 June. Watering can only be carried out under supervision of the Garden Museum staff and this requirement needs to be incorporated into the design. Designs must take account of the Museum being a public venue with many people visiting to see the installations.
The six shortlisted entrants will each be given £300 towards the cost of materials to create their design.
No design should use floral foam.
All entrants will need to demonstrate an existing commitment to using British flowers.
Shortlisted entrants will each receive complimentary tickets to a celebratory event held on Thursday 21 June.
Shortlisted and winning entries will be chosen by the panel of judges, and their decision will be final.
By entering, entrants give their permission for their names to be posted on social media and for their company to be mentioned within press and marketing materials.
